POSTED FOR COMMENTARY BY SCIENTISTS:

Fox News Host Brian Kilmeade.
Caller: “So you don’t believe in the scientists, the 98% of the climatologists that said that…?”
Host Brian Kilmeade: “You mean the corrupt ones? You mean the corrupt ones who admit they screwed up — they skewed — their findings?”
Caller: “[..] [R]ead my lips, 98% of climatologists!”
Host Brian Kilmeade: “[..] How do [the climate scientists] make their living? Their industry has to be addressed. Believe me, for anyone at the very least to think that it is settled science is a huge leap.”

Michael Quirke is the executive director of CCNF and is serving as the Forum's journalist. He first began work on an early beta version of this website in 2010, shortly after his military service and before starting law school at the University of Houston Law Center. He helped form the CCNF nonprofit under the leadership of its founding board members during his second year of law school and has been leading the growth of the organization as its executive director and covering the discussion and debate as the Forum's journalist ever since. In late 2014, he joined the organization's board. His vision for this journalism project is simple: Establish an open Socratic forum for scientists, give each scientist complete independence on the platform, encourage Socratic inquiry by all and ask questions, and impartially report what transpires; and then, once a good foundation in the science is set, host and cover a bipartisan policy debate by a diverse group of experts on what can or should be done about climate change as a nation based on the science established by the scientists. He hopes you join him on this intellectual journey.

It’s really not worth responding to such hypocritical idiocy. We don’t have time for it.

Dr. Bouldin,
I will rarely jump in the scientists’ comment thread, but I think an explanation of why I posted this is warranted. I do not mean to waste your time or be disrespectful to the CCNF scientist community.
Why I posted this:
1. Such attacks on the profession are actually quite prevalent, and this needs to be recognized.
2. I envision the ‘Climate Change in the Media’ section to partly act as a barometer of what the media is saying about climate change. This includes the good, the bad, and the ugly.
3. Whenever someone Googles “Brian Kilmeade” and “climate change,” this CCNF post will display in the search results.
I will not be posting every sensational or incendiary claim about climate change that pops up in the media, but I think in this initial phase of the CCNF, such an attack needed to be noted in the record.
Very Respectfully,
Michael Quirke

Actually, there’s no claim made in this exchange that’s specific enough to fact-check.

Basically Kilmeade claims that the vast majority of climate scientists is corrupt and are engaging in a massive conspiracy. This is so improbable as to be laughable.
